The Wagoneers are large family SUVs with three roomy rows of seats. The Wagoneer boasts V-8 power, a 10,000-pound towing capacity, and a plush interior. The interior is tech-rich, with up to five available displays, including one dedicated to the front passenger. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but we imagine most buyers will upgrade to one of the Wagoneer’s available all-wheel-drive systems; the large SUV also has an optional air suspension, which increases its off-road prowess. You’re looking for something more opulent. Those expectations might be better met by the mechanically comparable but significantly more expensive Grand Wagoneer.
All Wagoneer models feature cylinder deactivation and a 392-hp, 5.7-liter V-8 engine backed by a 48-volt hybrid system. Rear-wheel drive is the default, but customers who want to maximize the Wagoneer’s off-road potential should add all-wheel drive to their order list. Eight-speed automatic transmissions are standard. There are three different four-wheel drive systems to choose from, each with a different level of performance. Other available off-road features include a drive mode selection system with sand/mud, snow, and rock modes and an adjustable air suspension that can raise the Wagoneer to provide an additional 3.6 inches of ground clearance. Both rear- and all-wheel-drive variants of the Wagoneer will be rated to tow up to 10,000 pounds.
The spacious three-row cabin of the Wagoneer can be equipped with seating for up to eight. The option of second-row captain’s chairs reduces the number of seats to seven. The interior design is rich and includes many standard luxuries such as leather upholstery, 12-way power adjustable front seats, ambient interior lighting, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Buyers looking for the ultimate luxury will want to step up to the pricier Grand Wagoneer. Still, we think most will find the offerings in the regular Wagoneer suitably upscale.
